At first, Wallimage Crossmedia was set up as an innovative experiment with an uncertain future, however, it quickly became a true phenomenon. It didn’t take long for Belgian producers to understand what an asset the system could be, so they started to develop innovating projects which were able to attract the attention of the public and even drew people to the cinemas, which is, after all, the main goal of this process.
Wallonia, together with Tuscany, is one of two European territories selected by the European Commission for their exemplary support strategy for the creative economy as a drive for economic change.
Six César Awards ? Read through our archives all you want : Wallimage has never before managed such an exploit in its twelve years of existence. However, this only added to our happiness when we saw the feature films we supported, encouraged and of course co-financed, being rewarded this way.
The past Wallimage investment round was certainly one of the most diverse as of yet. This variety is mirrored in the decisions made by the board of directions: there are blooming blockbusters, two Belgian debut films, and a documentary series. In total, five projects were selected.
During the 12th animation session, held simultaneously with the regular Wallimage session, the fund decided to co-finance a prestigious animated film which aims to rival with the best overseas products.
A few months ago, Wallimage Entreprises launched a new loan advance fund for the Wallimage Coproductions co-production contracts. For the first time, it was used. Frakas, currently supervising the filming of Morrocan Gigolos, were the first to benefit from it.
Wallimage has changed a lot in twelve years. Our aids have grown stronger and became more diversified in order to explore new opportunities. Our assets however always remained the same: our reaction speed and our wish to simplify the procedures and bids as much as possible.
The Wallimage Board of Directors, called together on Tuesday 18th December, approved a set of regulatory measures which follow this philosophy and add more coherence and logic to the global project.
During the last Wallimage session for the year 2012, our experts had the chance to look over a varied display of projects, not only for the classic line but also for animation and crossmedia investments, as the crossmedia “digital extension” and “digital experience” lines were open for bids.
Based on the reports drawn up after analysis, meetings and discussions, the Wallimage board of directors decided to co-finance an exciting series of projects. Three are feature films. Also featured are an animated series and a crossmedia bid (see the related articles below).
