Digital Graphics Wins 2011 Awex Award

  • 13.12.2011

Eight companies were candidates for this award. All of them are high quality companies, both technologically and creatively: Alterface (www.alterface.com); Digital Graphics (www.digitalgraphics.be); Fishing Cactus (www.fishingcactus.com); IntoPix (www.intopix.com); RTBF (www.rtbf.be); Softkinetic (www.softkinetic-studios.com); Waooh! (www.waooh.be) and XDC (www.xdcinema.com).

A jury composed of personalities from both the academic (UCL and UMons) and industrial (EVS and BeTV) worlds has pre-selected three companies that it has judged to be the most deserving: the Brabant-based Alterface, the Liège-based Digital Graphics and the Montois-based Fishing Cactus.

In the end, Digital Graphics, based in Alleur, won the award. A decision that the jury explained in a few words: “Digital Graphics combines graphic excellence with technological excellence by developing both strong aesthetic identities for creative projects, and tools specific to the efficient structure. Moreover, the company is fully integrated in the economic environment of its region. All these reasons convinced us that this Liège-based entity deserved to be honored with the AWEX Award.

Digital Graphics, which will benefit from a 12 m2 booth at 3D Stereo MEDIA 2012 (a prize worth €2,300.00) is currently working on Le Chant de la Mer.

Like Brendan and the Secret of Kells, the previous opus by Irish director Tomm Moore, which was also developed by Digital Graphics, Song of the Sea is supported by Wallimage Coproductions.
As for Digital Graphics itself, during its development phase, it benefited from a participation in its capital by Wallimage Entreprises, which it bought back after a few years. This is a rather exceptional success story that is totally in line with the philosophy of regional investments in audiovisual companies.
