Emilie, to lose your mind!

This year, the Un Certain Regard section seems to have slightly changed course with a selection that was more like an official selection bis, while the Directors’ Fortnight occupied the more adventurous niche usually given to Un Certain Regard

There were therefore some feature films that were expected to be in the official competition and that would have had their place there. Like for example Le Grand Soir or A Perdre la Raison, one of the films that has generated the most ecstatic reactions this week. Produced by Versus and co-financed by Wallimage.

Even before the Festival began, when it was thought that the new drama by the very striking Joachim Lafosse would be in competition, the privileged few who had already seen it almost finished, claimed thatÉmilie Dequenneas a mother overcome by depression and fear, was destined to win another acting award, thirteen years after the one she received for Rosetta.

The fact that the film was placed in the Un Certain Regard section didn’t change much in the end: À Perdre la Raison generated as much press as most of the works in the official competition and Émilie Dequenne upset everyone. Including the members of the jury of this competition, chaired by Tim Roth, whom Émilie will meet again in a few days, on the set of Mobius, the thriller by Éric Rochant, in which she shares the screen with Cécile de France and Jean Dujardin.

Let’s bet that Tim is very keen on this meeting since his jury has awarded Émilie Dequenne the prize for best actress. A great reward for this eminently sympathetic actress who, according to everyone, signs here the role of a lifetime…

Hopefully there will be many more.
