More good news ! Brendan et le secret de Kells, the next film co-produced by Wallimage to be released in cinemas, will also be at Berlin. It was indeed selected for the Generation Price, one of the six sections of the festival, judged by a group of young film lovers. This category which is awarded with a Cristal Bear was won last year by Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame by Hana Makhmalbaf.
Brendan et le Secret de Kells is a French-Belgian-Irish animation film, directed by Tomm Moore, co-produced in Belgium by Viviane Vanfleteren and partially animated in Liège by Digital Graphics. It will be out in cinemas on February 11th.
The news surrounding the release is very flattering. Its very particular esthetic feel and the screenplay tortuous like a Celtic illumination surprise with their audacity and originality. The film had a comfortable budget of €6 million and as a real work of art it distinguishes itself clearly from everything made to this point. After the triumph of Les Triplettes de Belleville (also co-produced by Vivi Film), it shows that Old Europe can still make its voice be heard in a domain we thought had been completely handed over to the United States and Japan.
