In the winter of 2007, Raoul Deloux, a mathematics teacher in the Paris suburbs, pricks himself with a brooch that belonged to a certain Viviane Coquelin, a young silent film actress who left France in 1917 to try her luck in Hollywood.
After this injection, Raoul Deloux’s body becomes “black and white”, his gait is jerky, his words appear on the screen as in silent films and he discovers that he has a strange power : that of going back and forth in the movies.
Overwhelmed by the events, Raoul is reassured by his childhood friend, Jean-Baptiste Méliet, known as Méliès, a crazy film buff, and tries to put the incident into perspective.
He then receives a call from a famous French actor of the 30’s who tells him that Viviane is held prisoner since 1917 in a film produced by the terrible Douglas Craps.
To find her, the hero will have to go through the whole history of cinema, from Zorro to Buster Keaton, through the 3 musketeers or the Gunmen.
From film to film, Raoul will try to bring Viviane back to reality. But will he resist the temptation to start a new life in cinema?
