Competing with big budget American films and very sophisticated 3D, this fairy tale by Vincent Patar, Stéphane Aubier and Benjamin Renner managed to make a lasting impression on the voters in the first round.
Ernest & Celestine takes us to the conventional bear world, where friendships with mice are shunned. Yet Ernest, a non-conformist bear, a clown and musician, brings home little Celestine, an orphan who fled the rodent world. Two loners support and comfort each other, turning the established world order upside down.
This is a third nomination for Digital Graphics. The company ran by the brothers Umé worked on Brendan and the Secret of Kells and made the special effects for Dood van een Schaduw, a short film by Tom Van Avermaet, starring Matthias Schoenaerts, which was selected last year. Congratulations!
