Vijay and I in front of 8000 people in Locarno!

  • 17.07.2013

Vijay and I tells the story of a failed comedian who takes advantage of a misunderstanding to attend his own funeral and finally find out what his friends and family think of him. The film surprises by its international cast. Sam Garbarski has reunited Moritz Bleibtreu and Patricia Arquette as the lead characters. But also Michael Emperioli (The Sopranos), Moni Moshonov (a regular in James Gray’s films), Danny Puddi, or luxury guests like Hanna Shygulla.

Moritz Bleibtreu is a real star in Germany. We saw him in Cours Lola Cours, La Bande à Baader or Soul Kitchen, but also in Steven Spielberg’s Munich. Patricia Arquette, who has been the star of the series Medium for seven seasons, has made a name for herself on the big screen with key roles in Lost Highway, True Romance or Rangoon. She will join the cast of the prestigious series Boardwalk Empire.

The shoot ran for two months: from April 16 to June 12, 2012. The team worked in Luxembourg, Germany and also for 7 days in New York where the whole story is supposed to take place.

The good news is that Sam Garbarski has orchestrated this romantic comedy with the look of a typical American movie from the 50’s… but with a very modern feel. This beautiful achievement is produced by Entre Chien et Loup, co-financed by Wallimage and supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Vijay and I is also co-produced by Samsa Film, Pandora Filmproduktion and RTBF.

The film will be released on September 5th in Germany and on September 18th in Belgium where it will be distributed by Imagine Film Distribution.
