Vijay and I tells the story of a rather unsuccessful actor who takes advantage of an identity switch to attend his own funeral and finally discover what his family and friends really think of him. The film can count on an international cast. Top of the bill features Moritz Bleitreu and Patricia Arquette. They are in company of Michael Emperioli (The Sopranos), Moni Moshonov (known from James Gray films), Danny Puddi and quest performances by Hanny Shygulla .
Moritz Bleibtreu is a real star in Germany. He played in Run Lola run, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and Soul Kitchen, but also in Steven Spielberg’s Munich. Patricia Arquette was the lead of the series Medium for seven seasons and gained fame on the silver screen through her key roles in films such as True Romance, Lost Highway and Rangoon. Starting the next season, she will also join the cast of the prestigious series Boardwalk Empire.
The shoot took two months, between 16th April and 12th June 2012. The crew worked in Luxembourg, Germany and also seven days in New York where the series is supposed to take place.
The good news is that Sam Garbarski orchestrated this romantic comedy so reminiscent of typical fifties-era American films with a lot of class, but also gave it a very modern feeling. This success story was produced by Entre Chien et Loup, co-financed by Wallimage and it received support from the Federation Wallonia-Brussels. Vijay and I is also co-produced by Samsa Film, Pandora Filmproduktion and the RTBF.
The film will be released in Germany on 5th September and in Belgium on 18th September where it will be distributed by Imagine Film Distribution.
